Privacy Policy
Last Updated: March 28, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how Quicktionary ("the App") collects, uses, and shares information when you use our mobile application.
1. Information We Collect
Quicktionary is designed to provide quick dictionary lookups with a focus on local processing. To achieve this, the App processes the following data:
- Clipboard Content: The App accesses your device's clipboard only when you explicitly trigger a lookup (e.g., via the floating bubble or notification). This content is processed ephemerally to fetch definitions; it is not stored persistently or transmitted to our servers.
- Searched Words & Bookmarks (Local Storage): Your search history, definitions, examples, and "favorite" words are stored locally on your device in an SQLite database. This data stays on your device and is not transmitted to our servers.
- Advertising Data (via Google AdMob): The App uses Google AdMob to serve advertisements. The Google Mobile Ads SDK may collect and process:
- Advertising identifiers (e.g., Android Advertising ID).
- Device information (model, OS version, screen size).
- IP address and coarse location derived from IP.
- App usage and ad interaction data.
- Usage Data & Analytics: Standard performance data (crashes, device type) may be collected by third-party services like Google Play Services to help us improve the App.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To Provide Core Functionality: Delivering definitions and examples based on your clipboard or manual searches.
- To Manage Local Data: Maintaining your personal history and bookmarks for quick offline access.
- To Display Advertisements: Serving relevant ads through Google AdMob to support the development and maintenance of the App.
- To Improve the App: Diagnosing technical issues and understanding usage patterns.
3. Data Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell or trade your personally identifiable information. We share data only in the following circumstances:
- Third-Party Service Providers: We share data with Google AdMob for advertising. Google processes this data in accordance with the Google Privacy Policy.
