1. Overview
Quicktionary ("we", "our", or "the app") is a dictionary application for Android. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. We are committed to handling your data responsibly and transparently.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Information You Provide
- Google account name and email address, collected when you sign in with Google to access AI features.
2.2 Information Collected Automatically
- Words you look up and your search history, stored locally on your device.
- Words you bookmark, stored locally on your device.
- Text you select in other apps when you use the "Quicktionary" option from the system text-selection menu (processed only to provide the definition or AI explanation; never stored beyond the session).
- Daily AI usage count, stored locally to enforce the free-tier daily limit. This data is excluded from cloud backup.
- App settings (theme, notification preferences), stored locally.
2.3 Information Collected by Third-Party Services
- Firebase Authentication (Google) – manages your sign-in session. Google may collect authentication tokens and account identifiers.
- Firebase Analytics – collects anonymised usage events (screens viewed, features used) to help us improve the app.
- Firebase Crashlytics – collects crash reports including device model, OS version, and app state at the time of a crash. Enabled in release builds only.
- Firebase Remote Config – fetches app configuration (e.g. daily AI limit) without collecting personal data.
- Firebase AI (Gemini) – processes text you select when you request an AI explanation. Text is sent to Google's Gemini API to generate a response and is not retained by us.
